COMPONENT’S OF ELECTRIC SCOOTERS

An electric scooter, also known as an e-scooter, is a two-wheeled vehicle powered by electric batteries. The main source of energy that drives the scooter is electricity, which is considered one of the cleanest forms of energy worldwide. Instead of a combustion engine in an electric vehicle, an electric motor is installed that generates enough force to propel the scooter. Rechargeable batteries are used for electric scooters as they require electricity to run. Also, the external structure of these scooters is the same as that of conventional scooters, only the internal mechanism is quite different.

Main Components of Electric Scooters

In these battery-powered scooters, a combination of several components is installed for various functions including propulsion, control, speed, absorbing shocks, etc. Some of the major components are:

Outer Frame-

The outer frame of an electric scooter can be considered as the main pillar or base of the foundation. It is the main part of the body that houses all the other components of the electric scooter. It is specially made using aluminum to make it lightweight but also strong and durable for a long time.

Electric Motor-

The electric motor is another main component of the electric scooter that uses electric energy to propel the scooter. There are two types of electric motors: brushed DC motor and brushless DC motor, which are mostly preferred.

Battery Pack-

The battery pack made of electric scooter batteries acts as a storage bag to save all the energy that is later used to run the electric vehicle. Due to technological awareness, rechargeable lithium-ion batteries are most commonly used.

Controller-

Another important component of an electric scooter is that it controls the entire system of the vehicle. The controller ensures that the speed and other functions work as per the user’s instruction. For example, mainly the controller controls the electric current flowing to the motor as per the throttle control.

Charging Port-

Electric scooters are charged using a compatible charger and one end is connected to the charging port while the other is connected to the charging station. The port is installed on the outer frame and protected by a precision-fit lid.

Control Panel-

The control panel is an advanced interface that consists of a display showing graphical statistics of various functions like speed, distance covered, time, battery level, etc. Using this panel, riders can control various functions of the scooter

How does an electric scooter work?-

It is very easy to understand how an electric scooter works. Here is how things work:
First, DC power from the battery is given to the electric motor. It starts when the power button is pressed through the control panel.
Now, based on the throttle control, the controller releases the required electrical energy from the battery pack to the motor.
Finally, the electric motor produces enough propulsion to accelerate the wheel to the desired speed.
